Government and Private Collaborate to Support MSME Business Development and Sustainability

The government is always committed to accelerating the national economic recovery by responding to various challenges faced by the community, encouraging price stabilization, and expanding financing for business actors. These various efforts were made to stimulate business activities which are expected to lead to economic growth. Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have proven their resilience through the Covid-19 pandemic and accelerated national economic recovery. The development of MSMEs is inseparable from the support of various parties, both the government and the private sector. The collaboration between the government and the private sector is very beneficial for MSME actors. Through coaching, training, financing, especially People's Business Credit (KUR), and support from various parties, MSMEs need something. So that it becomes an impetus for SMEs to continue to grow. To obtain the latest information on the condition of MSME actors and to hear firsthand the obstacles they face, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto held a virtual dialogue with MSME actors in Bandung City, West Java, Tuesday (15/03). Similar dialogues have previously been held in several other cities, such as in Solo, Surabaya, and Semarang. On the occasion of the interactive dialogue, Coordinating Minister Airlangga discussed with MSME actors, including those who are members of the Sampoerna Retail Community (SRC) program. Since 2008, PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna) actively supports the Government's efforts to develop MSMEs through the SRC program.

By the end of 2021, the SRC program had reached more than 160,000 grocery stores throughout Indonesia, including the City and Regency of Bandung, West Java. Currently, there are approximately 21,000 grocery stores in West Java that have joined the Sampoerna Retail Community (SRC), of which around 3,000 are located in the city of Bandung. The MSME guidance provided to SRC members includes education on store arrangement and financial management, business development, support for MSME products in the surrounding community through the "Local Corner", to digital literacy through the AYO SRC application. With the spirit of cooperation that prioritizes synergy and collaboration with various stakeholders, it is hoped that the coaching program can have a long-term impact. In the casual and intimate dialogue, it was revealed that the average monthly turnover of grocery store owners tripled after receiving coaching. Grocery store owners also conveyed the current problems to Coordinating Minister Airlangga, including the unstable sales conditions during this pandemic. On that occasion, Coordinating Minister Airlangga also encouraged grocery store owners who intend to expand their business not to hesitate to take KUR because of the interest subsidy facility. "The government is here to support MSMEs through KUR with an interest rate of only 3%, which MSMEs can use to develop their businesses," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.

In addition to dialogue with MSMEs, Coordinating Minister Airlangga also witnessed the symbolic distribution of KUR from BNI to MSMEs and the delivery of CSR from PT HM Sampoerna, Tbk in the form of an oxygen concentrator to the Bandung City Government. For information, the distribution of KUR from BNI in West Java has so far reached IDR 2.5 trillion and in Bandung itself, it has reached IDR 819.84 billion. Also present at the MSME Dialogue event was the Deputy for Macroeconomic and Financial Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Iskandar Simorangkir, the Deputy for Coordination of the Digital Economy, Employment and MSMEs at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Rudy Salahuddin, Representatives from the West Java Provincial Government, Director of External Affairs PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. Elvira Lianita, SVP of Small Business Business and BNI Sunarna Eka Nugraha Program, and MSME players.
