Jakarta Will Have the Largest Automotive Center in Indonesia

In recent years, the national automotive industry has shown a fairly attractive development. Based on official data from the Ministry of Industry, the automotive industry is one of the mainstay sectors that has a significant contribution to the national economy with a total investment value of IDR 99.16 trillion. Seeing the increasing market growth, Agung Sedayu Group and Salim Group as leading property developers have contributed to the birth of the revival of the national automotive industry through the construction of the PIK 2 Automotive District. Celebrating this achievement, PIK 2 together with the management of the PIK 2 Automotive District as well as the Chair of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the General Chair of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), Bambang Soesatyo, held a groundbreaking for the construction of the largest automotive center in Indonesia on Wednesday last week. Also in attendance were PIK 2 Automotive District leaders, including President Commissioner Sanny Liawati; Commissioner Lioe Cie Hung; President Director Iwan Tjahjadi; Director Daniel Hermanto, Chief Operating Officer Josua Juan Setiawan. The event was also attended by representatives from the Agung Sedayu Group, namely the CEO of Hotels & Malls Division 2 Natalia Kusumo, and the Director of Business Development Ipeng Widjojo.


"The first phase of the development of the PIK 2 Automotive District is carried out on an area of 3 hectares and will include 132 showrooms ranging from general importers, accessories to other automotive supporting components," said Bamsoet, Bambang Soesatyo's nickname, quoted Tuesday (15/3/2022). "The target is for the first phase to be completed in August and fully operational in September 2022," he continued. Strategically located in the Main Boulevard area of PIK 2, the PIK 2 Automotive District is expected to be the main destination for industry activists and various automotive lovers who are members of clubs and communities. In addition, the PIK 2 Automotive District is also expected to be not only a showcase for supercars but also various domestically produced vehicles. "We see a promising potential for the automotive business," said PIK 2 Automotive District President Commissioner, Sanny Liawati.
She added that Indonesia's demographics in 2045 will be dominated by the productive millennial generation. Therefore, the expansion of the PIK2 area will help spread the population of Jakarta and improve the national economy. Meanwhile, Director of Investor Relations of the Agung Sedayu Group, Soesilawati added, the PIK2 area stands on an area of approximately 2650 hectares and will continue to be expanded. "The location of the largest automotive center in Indonesia is in the development stage I PIK 2 covering an area of 1,000 hectares," she said. "The construction of the toll road, which is planned to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023, also expands the main access to this area," she added. The presence of the PIK2 Automotive District further complements the various facilities available at PIK2. Both tourist facilities such as white sand beaches and greenbelts, to shopping facilities such as Sedayu Watertown Mall, TokyoHub, Asian Town to Marina Bay shophouses.
