Indonesia has a target to become a producer center for the world's halal goods by 2024. So far, Indonesia is still the largest consumer of the world's halal market. Chairman of the Expert Council of the Islamic Economic Community, Perry Warjiyo, explained several strategies that need to be carried out to be able to achieve this target. He summarized it into six important points. He said the global national halal hub movement was one of the efforts to encourage national economic recovery. In addition, this is also expected to be able to encourage domestic halal products to the global halal market. "First, marketing, this is very important, market research is important for us to be able to penetrate Indonesian halal products, we need to understand our market research, what we need in various export destinations including the Middle East and other countries," he said in the eighth Muhadatsah of the Sharia Economic Community Expert Council, Saturday (12/3/2022). Through this research, said Perry, it means that it is necessary to strengthen the products that will be made later. That way, it is hoped that they will be able to understand what is needed and what follows the tastes of consumers exporting Indonesian halal products. Second, there is an ecosystem to build connectivity from upstream to downstream. So that all parties can get their share and do their part. Perry said, through this also how to present various halal products from MSMEs to Islamic boarding schools and build a halal industry and export ecosystem.
"Third, synergy, so this needs to be done in synergy, in a congregation from various parties, this synergy is very important," he said. Furthermore, the Governor of Bank Indonesia also said that producers in Indonesia need to have targets. This means that products developed for export to the world halal market will be following the wishes of consumers. "We have many excellent products, we must target which ones we want to develop, for example Indonesian fashion and food products that already have a strong competitive position, I think targeted products are important," he explained. Fifth is official, meaning, said Perry, this is support from regulators or the government who want to participate in developing Indonesia as a world halal hub. this means it is related to the licensing sector for the national halal industries. "Not only how is the support from the Ministry of Trade but also how is the support for halal certification, how about licensing issues, taxation," he said. Last but not least, to develop a halal hub is the promotion of domestic halal products. Not only done domestically, promotion also needs to be done to the global market. The goal is to be in line with the target of the world's halal market center in 2024. "Trade promotion, we do in Dubai, we have to expand it to other regions, trade promotion is very important," he said.
