Cassava-Based Agrotourism Encouraged

The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) work together to develop cassava-based agro-tourism. Through the development of agro-tourism in utilizing the land, it is expected to increase farmers' income while maintaining local culture and technology. Director-General of Food Crops, Suwandi said that during this pandemic there was a change of direction, now local food is moving well. Farmers are excited to plant it because the market is stretched. He gave an example that exports of cassava and its derivative products will increase significantly in 2021 compared to 2020. Indonesia's exports are much higher than imports and the need for domestic cassava products is still high.

"In accordance with the direction of the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo to map local Indonesian food centers for local food. Local food is not only diversified in production but also in consumption diversification. In order to enrich the added value of cassava, we develop agro-tourism, which is packaged in a modern way in collaboration with hotels and others," said Suwandi at the Propaktani Technical Guidance and Socialization (BTS) event in collaboration with the Directorate General of Food Crops and the Indonesian Cassava Society (MSI), Wednesday (9/3).
