Ministry of Trade Facilitates the Initial Export of Wooden Floor SMEs to India

The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) facilitates the initial export of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) assisted by the Surabaya Export Center program for wood flooring products to India amounting to 27 thousand US dollars. “The first export by PT Vesta Legno Internasional is a proud achievement. Considering that the company, which is only three years old, has succeeded in penetrating foreign markets by meeting global market standards such as Europe and Japan," said Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade Didi Sumedi in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday. Didi added that the export was part of an export contract toIndia worth 350 thousand US dollars. The first export was carried out in Gresik, East Java, today which was attended by the Secretary of the Directorate General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade Ganef Judawati.  In his remarks Ganef appreciated the company which is actively looking for market opportunities and is expected to be an example for the people ofmillennials to penetrate the export market.In addition, he also appreciated the Surabaya Export Center Team who provided assistance to PT Vesta Legno Internasional so that they were able to carry out exports independently, which previously was carried out under an undername.


"East Java's SME exports continue to show an encouraging phase and bring hope for accelerating the national economic recovery. This momentum must be maintained continuously so that Indonesia's exports will continue to increase," said Ganef. Export Center Surabaya is a program for assisting business actors, especially export-oriented SMEs for the East Java region, which will be inaugurated in 2021.


Through this program, business actors can obtain one-stop consulting services regarding export opportunities, use of trade cooperation agreements, assistance with product standardization, promotions, export procedures, as well as problems faced by business actors through coordination with stakeholders. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, in 2021, Indonesia's exports of wood flooring products (HS 441871-79) amounted to US$117.86 million, an increase of 39.09% compared to the previous year's exports of US$84.74 million. Over the past five years, the trend of Indonesia's exports to the world for this product has shown an average decline of 4.29% annually. In 2021 India will occupy the 18th position as an export destination for Indonesian wood flooring products with a share of 0.33%. Meanwhile, Indonesia's largest export share for this product is to the United States with a share of 51.08%, Japan (10.27%), Canada (6.85%), Australia (4.88%) and France (4.79%).
