The performance of the culinary sector (F&B) is still able to move positively amid the weakening of people's purchasing power during the pandemic. This provides an opportunity for the Foodstory Group to become a “home” for F&B business players through capital support and available resources. This support is given to encourage increased business scale from F&B business people who have and will join the Foodstory Group ecosystem. Even though it has only been established for 1 year since January 2021, Foodstory Group as a Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) startup company that focuses on the F&B sector already has 5 brand portfolios in it, such as Lahab Chicken (Arabian Fried Chicken), Chicken Pao (Asian Chicken Rice). Bowl), Bowlgogi (Korean Beef Bowl), Rames Kita (Indonesian dish) - a collaboration done with Jessica Milla and Enzy Storia, and Gaaram, a well-known brand known for its Batubara Chicken. From the prospect of F&B in Indonesia, which is still growing rapidly, Dennish Tjandra, CoFounder and CEO of the Foodstory Group, sees the many challenges faced by business actors, whether they are just starting a business or those who are already running. The challenges faced include, among others, access to capital and resources. This condition often hinders and even makes businesses that had the potential to be forced to close. "We are committed to providing solutions for F&B business players so that they can develop their business to a further level," said Dennish in his statement, Monday (21/2).
"The Foodstory Group not only provides support in the form of investment funds, but also provides ecosystem and management support from our experienced team. We do this to continue to encourage their growth going forward," he said.Dennish admits that the business development that the Foodstory Group wants to encourage is also because they see the growth of the small and medium industry (IKM) which in the third quarter of 2021 experienced a positive increase of 4.37%. This growth is dominated by the food and beverage industry. This is what makes the Foodstory Group focus on encouraging SMIs, especially in the F&B sector to be able to increase their business scale.
Dennish explained that one of the business developments that the Foodstory Group did was to acquire a well-known F&B brand, namely Gaaram. This is done as a step for the company to be able to provide more support to its business partners. Apart from products, Gaaram has a central kitchen and trained resources. This capability is expected to make it easier brands that are members of the Foodstory Group ecosystem to be able to expand their business network. In addition, Dennish also revealed that through the funding they received from RND Kapital in October 2021, Foodstory Group had succeeded in accelerating the growth of each of their brand portfolios rapidly until more than 100 virtual restaurants were present in total. Chicken Pao, which is one of their brand portfolios, is even claimed to have achieved a business growth rate of up to 90 times throughout 2021. "For 2022, we are ready to invest in around 15 brands potential F&BWe are constantly looking for brands that we see potential. We are also open to any F&B business people who have a vision of increasing their business scale to a better level and according to our criteria.” he added. Not only has the same vision to increase business scale, the Foodstory Group is also open to brands whose products are scalable and have been tested in the market, have 3-5 branches with a certain level of sales and focus on selling online through a food delivery platform.
