Overcoming the Soybean Scarcity, Lampung Provincial Government Expands Land and Increases Production

The Lampung Provincial Government (Pemprov) will increase local soybean production to overcome the shortage of soybean supply. Acting Assistant II for Economy and Development of Lampung Province Kusnardi said the effort was to stimulate farmers to continue producing and not be afraid to plant soybeans. "To meet the supply of soybeans, the Lampung Provincial Government will increase local soybean production. According to Kusnardi, expanding local soybean production has many positive values, so that the people of Lampung will not depend on imported soybeans. "Currently soybean prices are good, so this is also expected to stimulate farmers to plant local soybeans," he said. He explained, although local soybeans were still less attractive due to the size and quantity of products that were inferior to imported soybeans, the land expansion would still be carried out soon. "Compared to imported soybeans, soybeans local all fresh, good. Only Lampung lost in terms of price and size. So the expansion will still be carried out but it is still in the planning stage first," he said. Based on data from the Lampung Province Food Crops, Food Security, and Horticulture Office, in 2021 the total soybean land in Lampung covered an area of 2,580 hectares. Then there are 1,033 hectares of soybean land harvested with a production of 612.8 tons, while the selling price of local Lampung soybean products to the market is IDR 6,000 to IDR 8,000 per kilogram.
