President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said he was proud of the achievement of exports of automotive products made in Indonesia, which penetrated 80 countries on four continents. Jokowi conveyed that the products exported were not only spare parts but also four-wheeled vehicles. Although not under the name of an Indonesian brand, he said the products were mostly produced by the nation's human resources. "Almost 80 countries that we export to on four continents and I am also happy that the local content, TKDN (domestic component level) is more than 75 percent," said Jokowi in Karawang, Tuesday (15/2). Jokowi said that the export of these products would not only encourage the growth of large companies. This is because many automotive spare parts and accessories are supplied by small and medium enterprises. The former mayor of Solo said that this export achievement shows the quality of Indonesia's human resources (HR). According to him, Indonesian human resources have been able to compete in the world market. "This proves that Indonesian human resources have good qualifications in car production, are very thorough, very careful, very careful because it involves people's safety," he said.
However, he asked the national automotive industry players not to be complacent. He reminded that Indonesian-made products have a difficult task to compete in the global market. "Be careful, export products will compete with other products from car-producing countries. So, they are not alone in the market, but compete," he said. Previously, the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said that Indonesian-made automotive products have penetrated 80 countries. Indonesia's complete build-up (CBU) exports in 2021 reached 294 thousand units with a value of IDR 52.9 trillion. Meanwhile, units that have not been assembled (completely knock down or CKD) were exported as many as 91 thousand sets with a value of IDR 1.31 trillion. The export of components touched 85 million pieces with a value of IDR 29.13 trillion.
