The G20 presidency held in Indonesia will be an opportunity to revive the economy. Although centered in Bali, these activities are for the surrounding areas, including Labuan Bajo, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The Managing Director of the Implementing Agency for the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF) Shana Fatina said the presence of Labuan Bajo as a side event destination for the G20 conference was certainly an important issue, related to productivity, sustainable tourism, as well as the development of the local digital economy through the SME and MSME channels. She said the face of Labuan Bajo has been polished since 2019 by presenting various public facilities which are expected to be able to provide space for the public and tourists who come to be able to enjoy the beauty of the area. "We continue to maximize the collaboration with all stakeholders in advancing Labuan Bajo to welcome the G20 Summit with stakeholders, from business actors to the community as well as the media," she said in a press release, Monday (14/2/2022).
Overall, the role of BPOLBF is not only to be present as a representative of the central government in the region but also to orchestrate all interests in developing Labuan Bajo tourism. This was also done to respond to the development of sustainable and competitive tourism which is expected to be able to move the regional economy following the mission and direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). "We make sure that Labuan Bajo is ready to welcome the G20," she said. Currently, all stakeholders are working together to make the series of G20 agendas in Labuan Bajo successful. Various preparations have been made, starting from the availability of hotel rooms, infrastructure readiness, to tour packages to various tourist destinations in Labuan Bajo and surrounding districts. "We offer attractive tour packages so that the participants' stay can be longer. In addition, we also provide places for the public to offer their creative products. Tourist attractions are also held in several places, of course with strict health protocols," she said.
