KemenKopUKM Facilitates Leading SMEs to Participate in National and International Exhibitions

The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs will facilitate selected Indonesian leading SMEs to take part in a number of national and international exhibitions which will take place in March and April 2022. The registration period for SMEs, said the Deputy for UKM KemenkopUKM, Hanung Harimba Rachman, lasts until January 31, 2022 online. From the registered SMEs, administrative selection of the completeness will be continued to be called in the curation activity in Semarang, Central Java on 11-12 February 2022. "Facilitation is given to selected SMEs according to the quota and those who meet the applicable terms and conditions," he explained in Jakarta, Monday (14/2). Hanung added that based on the results of the online registration, there were more than 828 SMEs spread across 26 provinces in Indonesia. Of this number, 230 SMEs have fulfilled administrative requirements from 22 provinces and 103 have been confirmed to attend the curation activity which will take place on March 11-12, 2022 at Hotel Horison Semarang, Central Java. "SME players register their products in various categories, including craft, fashion & accessories, culinary, home decor, furniture, and coffee & condiments," said Hanung.

There were four curators who were presented to select SMEs that were eligible and ready to enter the global market, taking into account the potential to become local champions in the domestic market and have the potential to enter the international market. Each UKM present is given a maximum of 5 minutes to convince the curator team. This time was used for several things, including one minute of the Elevator Pitch, then followed by a question and answer session from the curator team with UKM. "For SMEs who pass the initial selection in their presence in the ongoing curation activities, they also take pictures of superior products brought by SMEs to be photographed and then they will be made in the data directory of Indonesia's leading business actors under the guidance of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs for 2022," he said. From the results of the ongoing curation activities, information was obtained that there are still many SME players who require the development of product innovation and global standard certification in order to compete in the international market.

It should be noted that KemenkopUKM, in this case the Deputy for SMEs, has five exhibition agendas, namely the IFEX and JIFFINA exhibitions specifically for the furniture and home décor categories, INACRAFT which is intended for SMEs in the handicraft category, as well as the Jakarta Coffee Show and Specialty Coffee Expo for categories of coffee, tea, and chocolate products. The general terms and conditions that apply are for products that are ready for export and have global standards, have a minimum turnover of IDR 2 billion per year (small to medium scale), have business legality (SIUPP, NPWP, NIB, TDP, or business license), have an official website/social media, have a registered brand, the product must be authentic – not imitation/kw, the product has a market (at least local), has product certification (food/beverage: PIRT, Halal, BPOM, HACCP, Organic, ISO, FSSC; cosmetics: BPOM, Halal; and Home Décor: SVLK, ISO), and has attractive and informative packaging.
