The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekaf) kick-off the G-20 Tourism Working Group (TWG) event. This activity is expected to be an economic revival in Indonesia, which is contributed by the tourism sector and the creative economy. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno explained that the kick-off of TWG will be held in a hybrid manner and attended by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Representatives of Italy and India as the troika, namely the holders of the presidency before and after Indonesia. In his remarks, he emphasized that the kick-off of TWG is also a symbol of economic revival and the recovery of the tourism sector by opening up more job opportunities for the community. "This is an extraordinary opportunity to show the international world that Indonesia can lead the world in solving the problems of the World Tourism and Creative Economy through experiences or best practices that Indonesia has done so far in dealing with the global pandemic," said Sandiaga in a press release, Sunday (13/2).
In the TWG G-20 2022, he added, Kemenparekraf will try to solve problems and face challenges by focusing on 5 Lines of Actions including, Human Resource Development; Innovation Through Digitization; Empowering Women and Young Generation; Environmental Rehabilitation, Conservation, and Maintenance; and Investment in Tourism and Digital Sector. "It is hoped that the work carried out by the G-20 TWG will result in a mutual agreement among the G-20 countries to overcome the existing challenges as a whole by prioritizing togetherness and sustainability," said Sandiaga. He also hopes that the G-20 TWG can produce a concrete program that can be collaborated between countries that join the G-20. Wherefrom the kick-off TWG produces a concrete program based on best practices and can be collaborated between member countries following the direction of the President. "The theme that was brought up at the G-20 Summit was "Recover Together, Recover Stronger" where in this case Indonesia as the host invites the world to rise better from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic which is still ongoing together," concluded Sandiaga.
