Several potential foreign investors are said to have expressed interest in being involved in the development plan for the State Capital (IKN) in North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU), East Kalimantan. The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) has appointed REI to participate in supporting the development of the new IKN. The property development plans prepared at IKN include residential, commercial offices, public facilities, and infrastructure. REI which is under the auspices of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) will also cooperate with foreign developers. Deputy Chairperson of REI's DPP for Foreign Relations Rusmin Lawin said REI is intensively working with investors from the United States, Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East to enter the IKN Nusantara project. According to him, REI has shown its consistency in supporting President Jokowi's grand plan in realizing the development of the Nusantara IKN by conducting a roadshow campaign to the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
As is well known, he continued, since the discourse on the transfer of IKN was announced by President Jokowi in 2019, REI as the main stakeholder in the development of the real estate sector in the country has affirmed its support for this grand plan. He added that the association had carried out socialization to foreign investors throughout 2020 and 2021, both through physical visits and socialization at international webinars. "Since early 2020, we have been embracing strategic stakeholders from various parts of the world to socialize the development program for the capital city of the archipelago. We have established cooperation by collaborating with various investment and world development stakeholders," he told Bisnis, Sunday (13/2/2022). Rusmin, who also serves as President of FIABCI Regional Asia Pacific for the period 2022 - 2023, said that his party had collaborated with the Asian region, namely Enterprises International Singapore (IES), Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC), The Japan Conference On Overseas Development of Eco-Cities (J-Code), The National Agency for Administrative City Construction (NAACC), Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), Astaka Holdings, Janadcs Group, AWS Group, and KVG group from Malaysia. In Europe, REI collaborates with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, the Bulgarian Industrial Association, The 2000 Wattcity Society Asociation Switzerland, Fundacio Metropoli Spain, and Immobilien Makler AG Germany. In Central Asia, REI collaborated with the Tashkent Trade and Investment Department, Kazhakstan Networking Partners Group, Aristan Group, and Mallow Islands Group.
