The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of North Sulawesi (Sulut) encourages increased exports to countries in the Middle East in 2022. "We see that the export market potential for North Sulawesi commodities to the Middle East is very promising, so this year it will continue to be pushed," said Head of the North Sulawesi Industry and Trade Office (Kadisperindag) Edwin Kindangen, in Manado, North Sulawesi, Sunday (13/2/2022). Edwin said requests from Middle Eastern countries kept coming. However, North Sulawesi will be boosted by introducing various new products this year.
"Indeed, currently there are several Middle Eastern countries that have become North Sulawesi's export destinations, but more work must be done," said Edwin. He noted that North Sulawesi's exporters need to increase the delivery of superior commodities to the Middle East market because it has great potential and can increase foreign exchange for the country. He said the Middle East is a potential market for North Sulawesi's various export commodities, so this year it will continue to be pushed to achieve a fairly high export performance target in the next few years.
Middle Eastern countries are export targets such as Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Turkey, Iran (Persia), Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen and Palestine. Of these countries, he said, there were already several destinations for North Sulawesi commodity exports, namely Israel, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, and Turkey. "And others will be pursued by North Sulawesi to be able to expand this year," said Edwin. North Sulawesi's export products sent to the Middle East are food products such as coconut flour, nutmeg, fishery products, other coconut products, and houses on stilts.
