The economy of North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) grew by 4.16% in 2021. Based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) based on current prices in 2021, growth reached IDR 142.60 trillion and based on constant prices in 2010 it reached IDR 91.79 trillion. From the production side, as many as 16 business fields grew positively, with the highest growth achieved by the accommodation and food and drink provision business sector of 12.72%. "From the expenditure side, all components grew positively except for the government consumption expenditure component and the highest growth occurred in the export component of goods and services at 9.23 percent," said Head of BPS North Sulawesi Asim Saputra, Monday (7/2/2022). The economic structure of North Sulawesi in 2021, said the Head of BPS, is dominated by five business fields, namely agriculture, forestry and fisheries by 21.08%. Then wholesale and retail trade, repair of cars and motorcycles by 13.09%. Then construction is 11.77%, processing industry is 10.49% and transportation and warehousing is 9.01%. "Then from the expenditure side, it is dominated by household consumption spending at 42.67%, gross fixed capital formation at 36.14% and exports of goods and services at 26.26%," said Asim Saputra.
The economy of North Sulawesi in the fourth quarter of 2021 compared to the fourth quarter of 2020 experienced a growth of 3.38% (y-on-y). In terms of production, almost all business fields experienced positive growth. Up The highest growth was achieved by the electricity, gas, and ice production business fields of 8.81%. From the expenditure side, the highest growth was achieved by the LNPRT consumption expenditure component of 15.96%. Meanwhile, quarter IV-2021 compared to the previous quarter experienced a growth of 7.91% (q-to-q). The policy of easing restrictions on community activities caused the economy of North Sulawesi to grow significantly compared to the previous quarter. "From the production side, the highest growth was achieved by the business sector providing accommodation and food and drink by 46.86%. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the highest growth was achieved by the government consumption expenditure component of 20.34%," he said.
