The European Union expressed interest in collaborating with the Ministry of Religion's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) regarding Halal products. This was revealed in an audience discussing the field of Halal Product Assurance (JPH) on Wednesday (2/2/2022). "The main objective of this meeting is to build a more comprehensive understanding related to the principles and procedures for halal certification for products in the form of goods and services," said Head of Economic Affairs and Trade of the European Union for Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, Marika Jakas, Wednesday (2/2/2022). The Ministry of Religion, through its official website, revealed that the meeting discussed policies and technical aspects related to the recognition of foreign halal certificates, especially the European Union. In addition, there are also discussions regarding alternative cooperation that can be carried out by the European Union and BPJPH in the JPH field.
According to Marika, the update is very important as a unit of 27 countries that have become Indonesia's trading partners. Head of BPJPH Muhammad Aqil Irham expressed his appreciation for the initiation of the virtual meeting with the European Union. "We are very grateful for the implementation of this meeting and we will certainly respond to any problems, and discuss what needs to be done in the export-import trade process between Indonesia and the European Union," said Aqil Irham. Aqil also welcomed the European Union's initiative to cooperate with Indonesia through BPJPH in the field of JPH. Aqil ensures that JPH international cooperation can be carried out by BPJPH with any party as long as it is carried out according to regulations and carried out in a mutually beneficial manner. "We are regulated by the Halal Product Assurance regulation, including in this international cooperation, so we need to make a consensus to carry out this cooperation," added Aqil Irham.
