National Fishery Company Guarantees Quality of Cultivated Export Products

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) program to improve the quality of fishery products is supported by a national fishery company, PT Suri Tani Pemuka (STP), a subsidiary of JAPFA, which guarantees the quality of their aquaculture export products. "In line with the company's strategic plan to continue to expand the market, this export (product) is also a form of STP's support for the government in boosting state revenue through accelerating the volume of national exports, especially in the field of fish farming," said PT Suri Tani Pemuka President Director Ardi Budiono, in a written statement in Jakarta, Wednesday. Based on data from STP, the company recorded the export value of fishery products in 2021 of IDR 524.6 billion, an increase of 30.5 percent compared to the previous year. He stated that the series of processed products of tilapia, shrimp, and eel managed to penetrate the international market thanks to STP's consistency in maintaining the quality of its fishery products.

Meanwhile, Head of Tilapia Operations & Seafood Further Processed STP Jenny Budiati, stated that her party is committed to maintaining the quality of aquaculture products, so that it can always meet national and international needs. "We prioritize responsible and sustainable production, and always carry out strict supervision in the selection of raw materials in order to produce high quality fishery products that provide benefits for Indonesian and foreign consumers," said Jenny Budiati. For example, he said, because of its quality, one of STP's aquaculture products, namely tilapia which is cultivated directly in Lake Toba, has become one of the prima donna of fishery products that are in great demand in the international market. Based on data from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in 2020, the United States occupies the first position as the country with the largest demand for exports of fishery products, one of which is tilapia (tilapia). The tilapia export cooperation between STP and the United States has been established since 2014 and is still continuing to this day. In 2021 exports, the United States will take up a portion of 54 percent of the total exports of fishery products. "As a fishery company that cultivates tilapia, STP continues to strive to meet export demand with quality products from sustainable cultivation that are proven to be able to meet international markets," he said.

In addition, he said, processed tilapia products and other fishery products produced by STP have also been successfully exported to several countries in Europe and Asia, such as Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei, and Singapore. Previously, KKP stated that it was ready to maintain the acceptance of marine and fishery products from the Republic of Indonesia to 171 countries around the world. Plt. Head of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM) KKP Hari Maryadi in a press release, Thursday (6/1), confirmed his party's commitment to providing quality and safety assurance to achieve the target of maintaining the coverage of 171 countries. "Last year, our marine and fishery products penetrated 171 of 195 countries in the world. Of course, this must be maintained through the provision of quality assurance and good security," said Hari Maryadi.
Not only that, Hari said the target ratio for the acceptance of fish and fishery products exports by export destination countries was 98 percent. Meanwhile, the issuance of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certificates for products at UPI is targeted at at least 3,000 certified products issued by 42 BKIPM technical implementing units (UPT) throughout Indonesia.
