Kemenparekraf Collaborates with IMI to Expand the Automotive Tourism Industry

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) cooperates with the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) to seek to increase and develop tourism potential and the creative economy in the automotive industry. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno and the General Chair of IMI Central Bambang Soesatyo at the IMI National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) in Jakarta, Saturday (29/1). "I appreciate this collaboration to develop tourism and the creative economy together," he said in an official statement, Sunday (30/1). The memorandum of understanding has several scopes. Not only organizing activities based on automotive sports tourism but also improving the quality and capability of human resources in the tourism sector related to sports activities and mobility of motorized/automotive vehicles. Then, development of tourism destinations and creative economy infrastructure related to sports activities and motorized vehicle mobility, industrial development and investment and marketing in tourism and creative economy related to sports activities and motorized/automotive mobility, and others. In addition, the development of tourism products and the implementation of sports activities and motorized/automotive mobility, as well as the development of the digital economy and creative products related to the digital transformation of sports activities and motorized mobility.


Sandiaga said that the implementation of automotive sports tourism-based activities has the potential and has a big impact on the revival of the tourism sector because it can become a showcase for various creative economy products. "Starting from merchandise, clothes, culinary, and others. This is an opportunity for MSMEs and other creative economy players. This collaboration is a collaboration that is right on target according to the needs of both automotive stakeholders and the Indonesian people as a whole," said Sandiaga. One of the activities of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in collaboration with IMI is the preparation for the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP which will take place in less than 45 days. Not even less than two weeks of pre-season training will begin. "We can say that the show must go on, preparations have entered finalization and we hope this will be a revival of the automotive economy and sports tourism," he said. Meanwhile, the Chairman of IMI Bambang Soesatyo said that the cooperation between the two parties is expected to boost the Indonesian economy through various activities such as tournaments and world championships that have an impact on increasing national tourism. "Talking about the economy is nothing but the future, our backbone is tourism because we have many sources of tourism objects that are not owned by many countries in the world," he concluded.
