Bank Indonesia Predicts Indonesia's Exports to Remain Strong in 2022

Bank Indonesia estimates that Indonesia's economic growth in 2022 will be better than 2021. Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo projects economic growth this year to reach 4.7% to 5.5%, from 3.2% to 4.0% in 2021. "We are optimistic that in 2022, God willing, economic growth will be better than 2021, in the range of 4.7 to 5.5%," he said at the 2021 BI Transparency and Accountability Report event in Jakarta, Wednesday (26/1/2022). Perry said that this projection is driven by the continued improvement in the global economy which has an impact on export performance which remains strong, as well as increasing domestic demand from increased consumption and investment.

In addition, the faster rate of Covid-19 vaccination in various parts of Indonesia will help maintain the trend of national economic recovery. This is because social and economic activities have started to normalize in various public sectors after the establishment of communal immunity or herd immunity. Then, the continuation of various fiscal and monetary stimulus and financing programs were also able to strengthen national economic resilience from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. "The close policy synergy, innovation, and reform in the real sector as well as the financial sector are also capital to continue to rise and be optimistic about Indonesia's economic recovery in 2022," he concluded.
