The Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia conveyed his confidence that Indonesia would become the largest manufacturing industrial country in Southeast Asia. This was conveyed because there have been several manufacturing industry investments that have entered the country. "So in the future, Indonesia will become one of the largest manufacturing industrial countries in Southeast Asia, this is what we will do," said Bahlil in the Indonesia Economy Outlook 2022, Tuesday (25/1). Bahlil explained that now several world companies have entered to invest and develop the manufacturing industry in Indonesia.
Call it, LG Corporation which has committed to invest with a value of hundreds of trillions of rupiah. "We can do business with the South Korean company LG with a value of Rp. 152 trillion to build a car battery ecosystem from upstream to downstream and this is the first time in the world and this is the largest investment since Indonesia's reformation," he explained. Bahlil claimed that the Ministry of Investment had negotiated 7 times with one of the coordinating ministers of South Korea. "I did diplomacy with the coordinating minister of Korea. Incidentally, LG is partly owned by a BUMN. I did it with a team from the Ministry of Investment 7 times," he said.
Not only Korea, Bahlil said that investment also came from companies from China. "In addition to LG, we have another deal (agreed) with China's CATL to enter again this item at US $ 5.2 billion or Rp. 70 trillion," he said. Bahlil claims that other world companies are also lining up to invest in the country. "And now what is happening? Volkswagen and BASF are now willing to invest in Indonesia, yesterday I just returned from Europe," he said. He also boasts of the investment that will come from Foxconn, an assembly company from Taiwan, which will build the electric car and motorcycle component industry. Bahlil added that Foxconn will even move part of the volume of its telecommunications factory in China to Batang, Central Java.
