PUPR Minister Will Facilitate Construction Service Permits

The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono will provide relief from construction business permits. This is done to facilitate the construction service business climate. Basuki said that construction services are one of the sectors that can still run well. This is proven by the absorption of 94.21 percent of the PUPR Ministry's budget for the 2021 fiscal year. "Of the total budget ceiling of IDR 152.09 trillion, the PUPR Ministry managed to absorb IDR 143.29 trillion," Basuki said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Sunday (23/1). The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a contraction in economic growth in various countries, including Indonesia. However, the construction sector is believed to make a major contribution to economic growth because it has a multiplier impact on other sectors.

To support the smooth development of construction services in Indonesia and increase economic growth, Basuki said the PUPR Ministry would provide relaxation of business permits. This is also in line with the issuance of the Job Creation Act to improve the ease of doing business. "If the difficulty in doing business is in the PUPR Ministerial Regulation, I will relax to facilitate business permits, but I ask not to relax the quality of work," he said. One of the conditions that will be relaxed is the change in reference assets from 3 years to 10 years. "I think this makes sense because in the last 3 years we have all been hit by a pandemic," he said. Furthermore, Basuki also reported that the Ministry of PUPR continues to try to meet infrastructure needs in Indonesia even amid a pandemic. One of them is through the signing of the results of an early auction of 800 work packages worth IDR 20 trillion which will be carried out on Monday (24/1).
