PD Export is Ready to Increase Exports of Indonesian Halal Products

Business actors who are members of the Digital Export Platform Association (PD Export) are ready to increase exports of Indonesian halal products, especially from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Chairman of PD Export Hadi Lee said, PD Export already has an integrated digital-based halal MSME development ecosystem, which needs to get support from the government and other stakeholders. "In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, digital platforms are a solution and encourage increased exports of MSMEs and halal products," he said when receiving a team visit from the Vice President's Office at the Global Halal Hub secretariat, as stated in a written statement in Jakarta, Saturday. Currently there are 25 digital platforms that are members of PD Export, he added, and his party is also cooperating with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HIPMI, and other stakeholders. According to him, collaboration and synergy between the business world and the government in the export ecosystem of MSMEs and halal products increases optimism that Indonesia will become the center of the world's halal industry in 2024.

The Global Halal Hub is a Halal MSME ecosystem fostered by the Special Staff of the Vice President for Economics and Finance to support refocusing in the development of the halal industry and sharia economy. "We map and discuss halal MSME export problems and we coordinate with relevant agencies for solutions," said Special Staff of the Vice President for Economics and Finance Lukmanul Hakim. The Vice Presidential Staff for Financial Economics is ready to strengthen the Global Halal Hub ecosystem to encourage the export of halal products. Special Staff of the Vice President, Bambang Widianto, appreciated the digital platform business players who have built a halal MSME export ecosystem. According to him, Indonesia's potential to become the world's halal center is very large. "Developing Indonesian halal products does not start from zero. Everyday our products are halal, we only need certification and codification when exporting," he said.
Meanwhile, the Global Halal Hub Manager, Amalia Prabowo, explained that the first step to encourage the export of halal products was curating MSMEs covering quality, quantity and continuity. Next is to increase the capacity of human resources, certification, digital marketing, to enter the export market. "We already have an average of 1,000 assisted SMEs, with greater synergy and collaboration," he said. According to him, the Global Halal Hub builds ecosystems from villages, districts, provinces, to national levels. "Through the Global Halal Hub, it is easier for foreign buyers to buy Indonesian halal products," he said.
