Minister of Trade (Mendag) Muhammad Lutfi is optimistic that Indonesia's exports cumulatively throughout 2021 will record a brilliant performance. He is even confident that Indonesia's exports cumulatively over the past year have reached USD230 billion. "Indonesia as a country recorded the highest record for exports, we predict that it will reach around USD 230 billion," said Lutfi at the Launching of the Food SOE Holding under the name ID Food, Wednesday, January 12, 2022. This export prediction of USD230 billion is higher than the realization in 2020 which was only USD 163.31 billion. It is much higher than exports before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, which cumulatively was only recorded at USD 167.53 billion. The cumulative value of Indonesia's exports in January-November 2021 reached USD 209.16 billion, an increase of 42.62 percent over the same period last year. This value is much larger than the trade balance surplus in the same period in 2020 and continues the surplus trend since May 2020. In addition, Lutfi also believes that the trade balance surplus in December 2021 will again reach a record high. The highest record trade balance surplus occurred in November 2021 with a notch of USD 3.51 billion. "The surplus (the trade balance) will be the highest in history. Hopefully, it will pass from USD 3.5 billion," concluded Lutfi.
