The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (ESDM) reported that the realization of investment in the ESDM sector reached USD 28.2 billion in 2021. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said this figure was equivalent to 107 percent of the investment realization in 2020 which reached USD 26.3 billion. "The realization of investment in 2021 is USD 28.2 billion or 107 percent compared to 2020," said Arifin at a press conference on the 2021 Performance Achievements and 2022 Programs, Jakarta (12/1/2021). In his presentation, the realization of investment last year was still dominated by the oil and gas sub-sector, which reached USD 15.9 billion. Then, the electricity sector amounted to USD 6.8 billion. Furthermore, the mineral and coal sector (Minerba) reached USD 4.1 billion. Lastly, the new and renewable energy sector (EBT) amounted to USD 1.4 billion. The main challenge in investment activities in 2021 is the Covid-19 pandemic. Given, the consequences of the outbreak of the spread of the new type of corona virus disrupt the activities and mobility of the community. "The ESDM sector investment target in 2022 is to reach USD 32.6 billion," he concluded.
