Entering the beginning of 2022, North Sumatra's exports immediately sprang up. During January 1-8 2022, the total value of exports transported through Belawan Port, Medan City, was recorded at more than Rp. 241 billion. "Alhamdulillah, it is still good at the beginning of the year even though exporters are still starting contracts at the beginning of the year," said the Sub-Coordinator of the Plant Quarantine Institute for Agricultural Quarantine Center Belawan Sari Narulita Hasibuan to Bisnis, Monday (10/1/2022). Based on the data obtained, the agricultural sector still dominates export commodities with a value of IDR 228 billion. This amount consists of plantation commodities worth IDR 225 billion, horticultural commodities worth IDR 2.4 billion, and food plant commodities worth IDR 411 million. Meanwhile, the non-agricultural sector contributed around Rp. 12.6 billion. Consisting of forestry commodities worth IDR 12.6 billion and others around IDR 1.2 million.
According to data from the Belawan Agricultural Quarantine Center, several commodities exported at the beginning of this year included white oak, walnut, processed wood, keruing wood, sawdust, grated coconut, and areca nut. Then coffee beans, palm oil, broomsticks, dry tobacco, rubber plates, hydrogenate palm kernel olein, frankincense, rubber sheets, RBD Palm Olein, cinnamon, coconut milk, gambier, dragon's blood resin (jernang), and palm kernel stearin. So far, these export commodities have been sent to several countries such as the United States, Lithuania, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea, Brazil, Spain, and Iran. Then India, China, Egypt, Pakistan, Ireland, Belgium, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Colombia, Iraq, UK, Algeria, Haiti, Ecuador, Netherlands, Vietnam, Peru, Chile, Australia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Saudi Arabia.
