Tuna and Mangrove Crab are the leading non-mining commodities in North Maluku Province, which experienced an increase in exports in 2021 by 2.6 million USD. Compared to the last year 2020, which only touched the figure of 741.8 thousand USD. North Maluku has several commodities that are often exported to various countries, but Tuna and Mangrove Crab are the leading commodities. "There are more than 100 export documents and this means that there is a significant increase, which means that North Maluku's commodity exports this year tend to rise after 2020 yesterday was somewhat affected by the Covid-19 pandemic," said Head of Internal Compliance and Counseling, Ajar Septian Aditama, Wednesday (05/01/2022).
In accordance with the central government's policy, Customs and Excise do not levy export duties or zero rupiah tariffs on export duties for North Maluku commodities and products in the form of tuna, mangrove crabs, copra, and several other non-mining commodities. "If the export duty (export levy) is zero rupiahs or not collected. Export duties are only imposed on certain commodities such as palm oil, wood, certain metal mineral products, and others," he said. He continued, the policy aims to encourage the number of exports as well as to support local entrepreneurs or exporters to become more developed and more motivated in exporting North Maluku crops and commodities. "The export destinations are Singapore, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and the Philippines. Most of the local commodities (tuna and mangrove crabs) are exported to Singapore and Vietnam, while copra has only been exported to Bangladesh once,” he said.
