The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is strengthening cooperation with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) or AP II to increase direct call activities or direct export of fishery products from various airports in Indonesia to destination countries. Head of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM), Rina, assessed that exports directly help fisheries business actors, especially cutting operational costs when exporting. "Of course, cooperation and increasing synergy with AP II are increasingly important considering the acceptance of our fishery products has reached 171 countries," Rina said during a coordination meeting with AP II at the Mina Bahari II building, KKP, Jakarta, Tuesday (28/12). Rina explained that so far the export of fishery products was carried out through transit airports such as Soekarno-Hatta and Juanda. This causes operational costs to be high and there is a risk of decreasing product quality due to relatively long travel times.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's fishery production, explained Rina, reached 916.2 thousand tons on the island of Sumatra, 247 thousand tons in Kalimantan and 232.4 thousand tons on the island of Java. In addition, KKP also encourages increased production in a number of locations through the Cultivation Village program. "For that, we need to set priorities for direct export destination countries such as China, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, and others," continued Rina. Rina ensured that BKIPM was ready to provide minimal volume support and continuity of supply of exported commodities. Not only that, he guarantees that his institution will also seek to establish a communication forum between stakeholders and cooperate with other relevant agencies. "Essentially, we are ready to provide various supports needed for the implementation of this direct call," said Rina.
Special Assistant to the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries for Media and Public Communication Doni Ismanto said the synergy between BKIPM and AP II was of strategic value for the KKP because it had an economic and safety impact on fishery products. "AP II manages 20 airports spread throughout Indonesia, some of which become export points or traffic for people abroad. We hope that an increase in cooperation between AP II and BKIPM in the form of adding airports that will function for direct exports can increase product exports. fisheries in the future," said Doni. Doni said, KKP will also increase literacy through content production on NeptuneTV to fight the smuggling of fishery products through AP II airports. "We plan to produce some content such as the Border Control series which will tell about the work of the BKIPM and AP II teams as well as other stakeholders in supervising fishery traffic at the airport," said Doni. AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin welcomed the strengthening of the existing cooperation. AP II, said Awaludin, would prepare a number of things needed to carry out direct exports at several airports managed by AP II. "This is very good, especially to encourage regional economic growth. We are committed to synergizing in realizing this direct export," said Awaluddin. Awaludin said that AP II manages 20 airports spread across western Indonesia. Awaludin said that direct exports had previously started at several airports in the eastern region, such as Manado and Ambon. Previously, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono also asked his staff to continue to facilitate business actors so that they can exist in the world market. The facilitation starts from mentoring, certification, market potential profiling to strengthening the role of quality assurance.
