The Fisheries Service of Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, recorded that the export of frozen squid caught by fishermen in the area until November reached 601 tons. Head of the Fisheries Business Division of the Belitung Regency Fisheries Service, Susanto, said that the volume of squid caught by fishermen was exported to 601 tons with destination countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Australia. "This squid is one of the prima donna commodities for export of fishery products from Belitung," said Susanto in Tanjung Pandan, Monday (27/12/2021).
According to him, the number of exports is data recorded at the Belitung Fisheries Service either through Jakarta or direct exports from Belitung to the destination country. Apart from squid, other Belitung fishery commodities that are also exported abroad are 666.5 tons of yellowtail fish, 261 tons of double-lined fusilier fish, and 36.73 tons of gong-gong snails. Susanto added that the Fisheries Service also plans to open a new market for the export of fishery products in the area. "Including countries in other European regions. We will try to open new markets," he said. He said the export of fishery products had passed the standard of quality testing and other inspections by applicable rules and regulations. "We hope this export activity can increase regional income as well as fishermen," he said.
