Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi closed the 36th Digital Edition Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) yesterday. Until the last day of its implementation, the event, which was held since October 21, 2021, managed to record a total transaction value of US$ 6.06 billion. "This achievement is very encouraging because it exceeds the previously set transaction target of US$ 1.5 billion," Lutfi said in a written statement, Wednesday (12/22/2021). From this achievement, the total transaction value of overseas buyers was recorded at US$ 3.54 billion. Buyers with the largest transaction values came from five countries, namely China with a transaction value of US$ 1.68 billion (27.8%), Egypt with US$ 560.2 million (9.24%), Brazil with US$ 285, 8 million (4.71%), Japan at US$ 252.6 million (4.17%), and India at US$ 204.3 million (3.37%). Products that have succeeded in attracting foreign buyers at TEI-DE 2021 are agricultural products with a value of US$ 792 million (13.06%), chemical products of US$ 316.7 million (5.22 %), palm oil US$ 307.8 million (5.08%), herbal products and supplements amounted to US$ 300 million (4.95%), and processed paper and paper products amounted to US$ 298 million (4.92%). Until the last day of its implementation, TEI-DE 2021 has also been visited by 32,030 visitors with a total registrant of 8,220 buyers from 136 countries, consisting of 3,721 foreign buyers and 4,499 local buyers.
The five countries with the highest number of buyers at this year's TEI-DE event are India, China, Malaysia, Brazil, and Egypt. This is inseparable from the role of foreign Trade Representatives who actively promote TEI-DE through assisting buyers in finding Indonesian products, opening help desks, and holding business meetings. Meanwhile, this year's TEI-DE exhibition was attended by 834 exhibitors divided into eight product categories, namely manufactured products; digital lifestyle & services; medical & healthcare; renewable energy; food & beverage products; living comfort & amenities; fashion & beauty products; and halal products. "Participants are expected to continue to follow up on trade contacts that occurred during TEI-DE. In addition, foreign trade representatives will also continue to oversee the follow-up to the cooperation between exhibitors and buyers," said Lutfi.
During the TEI-DE 2021 implementation, several forum activities have also been carried out, namely the Trade Tourism & Investment Forum (TTI), Halal Trade Forum, business forum, and business counseling. In addition, there were also 107 signings of memorandums of understanding (MoU) involving exporters and buyers from 17 countries. Another activity that is no less important is exploring a business that is able to generate transactions of USD 2.521 billion with buyers from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, which is focused on skilled and professional workers.
