Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi said that the value of Indonesia's exports from January to November 2021 was the highest in Indonesia's history. This was conveyed by the Minister of Trade at the closing ceremony of the Trade Expo Indonesia Digital Edition (TEI-DE), Tuesday (21/12/2021). “Along with the BPS announcement of a new record for Indonesian exports from January-November 2021, reaching US$ 209 billion, which is the highest in history. Lastly, in 2011 it was around US$ 203 billion,” said the Minister of Trade.
Lutfi said the trade balance also recorded a surplus of US$ 34 billion during January-November 2021. The Trade Minister said the trade balance surplus was also the highest in history. Therefore, the Minister of Trade views this as a milestone and a new trend for Indonesian exports in the future. Some time ago, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that Indonesia's export performance increased again in November 2021. BPS recorded that the export value in November 2021 was US$ 22.84 billion, up 3.69% monthly (mtm) and when compared to November 2020, the export value rose 49.70% on an annual basis.
TEI Transactions
The Trade Minister revealed that the 2021 TEI transactions reached US$ 6.06 billion. He revealed that the largest transactions at TEI came from fossil energy or coal amounting to US$ 2.52 billion, agricultural products US$ 792 million, chemical products US$ 316.7 million, and from palm oil US$ 307 million.
Then, the acquisition of herbs and specimens amounted to US$ 300 million. Meanwhile, processed paper and paper reached US$ 300 million and US$ 298 million, respectively. The number of visitors or virtual TEI visitors reached 32,030 visitors consisting of buyers from various countries, including Indonesia. The most frequent visitors to TEI came from India with 669 visitors, China 145 visitors, Malaysia 139 visitors, Brazil 138 visitors, and Egypt 116 visitors. But China took first place with purchases of US$ 1.68 billion or 27.8% of the TEI-DE results.
"In the Covid-19 condition, we still managed to set a new record in this TEI result and became a digital attraction in itself. We also have two new pillars, which will be the prima donna in the future, firstly the Indonesian halal industry, and secondly on how we can become the new destination of world Islamic fashion," said the Minister of Trade.
