After becoming the G20 Presidency, Indonesia will also become ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that this is a valuable momentum for Indonesia and invites all parties to jointly succeed the G20 Presidency of Indonesia. The implementation of Indonesia's G20 Presidency has the opportunity to increase domestic domestic consumption to 1.7 trillion rupiah, an increase in GDP which is estimated to reach 7.47 trillion rupiah, and the involvement of a workforce of around 33 thousand workers in various industrial sectors. "Economically, this will encourage confidence from global investors to accelerate the national economic recovery," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga in a webinar organized by the Gadjah Mada University Alumni Family (Kagama) with the theme "Indonesia's G20 Presidency: "Challenges, Opportunities, and the Role of the Community". Indonesia” on Friday (17/12).
In addition to providing benefits for national economic recovery, Coordinating Minister Airlangga also said that in this G20 Presidency, Indonesia has an important role in bridging the diversity that exists in the G20 Forum. Indonesia, which has a philosophy of deliberation and consensus, is expected to be able to bridge between various groups of countries. "Indonesia and the world community are waiting for the Indonesian G20 Presidency to take forward-looking, inclusive policies and take concrete steps beyond political narratives," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga. To that end, Coordinating Minister Airlangga said that President Joko Widodo aspires to the G20 as a platform for economic cooperation with three sectors, namely global health architecture, economic transformation through digitalization, and the transition to sustainable energy. "We feel the benefits of digital technology in various sectors, and of course we will continue to encourage sectors that can become new growth engines as the value of the digital economy itself," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
Indonesia is expected to be able to produce new breakthroughs, including in the energy transition sector for all countries by promoting the adoption of affordable technology, co-financing mechanisms, and priorities for a sustainable energy transition. "In this effort, we will involve the participation of scientists and academics who are members of Think 20 and Science 20, which are expected to contribute to the three fields as well as the energy transition," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga. Closing his presentation, Coordinating Minister Airlangga said that the Government continues to expect input from all stakeholders, including experts and academics, to maximize the benefits of Indonesia's G20 Presidency so that it can help joint recovery.
