Dozens of Foreign Companies Relocate Investment to Indonesia, Targeted to Absorb 70,950 Workers

The Ministry of Investment / Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) said that at least 23 companies had relocated their investments from several countries to Indonesia with a total investment plan of US$ 8.12 billion in the last two years. As conveyed by the Deputy for Investment Control and Implementation of the Ministry of Investment / BKPM Imam Soejoedi on Saturday (12/18/2021), the foreign company's investment relocation was thanks to the breakthrough of a special team formed by the Minister of Investment / Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia. "At the time of the investment relocation, the Minister has formed a special team, the name is Team Mawar. Given the trust and he directly supervised and then given the trust to execute directly, finally, there are 23 companies currently relocating," he said.


Dozens of companies relocated their industries from a number of countries, including China, Vietnam, and South Korea to Indonesia. The industrial relocation plan is projected to absorb as many as 70,950 local workers. In addition to having achieved investment relocation commitments from 23 companies, the Ministry of Investment noted that 25 companies have an interest in relocating their industry to Indonesia with a total investment plan of US $35.5 billion. The Ministry of Investment is also targeting 114 potential companies to be recruited to be able to relocate to Indonesia. The value of the planned investment to the 114 companies is estimated at US$ 40.5 billion.
