The government has announced the implementation of Level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) throughout Indonesia during the 2021 Christmas and New Year 2022 (Nataru) holidays. Later, all regions of Indonesia, both those with PPKM Level 1 and 2 status, will be generalized with the application of the PPKM Level 3 rules. In more detail, the PPKM Level 3 Nataru will take place from December 24, 2021 to January 2, 2022 with various tightening of travel rules. Even so, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) in a Working Meeting with Commission V DPR RI, has ensured that goods transport vehicles, such as trucks will not be limited during the PPKM period. "We have prepared a concept for Nataru this year, the mobility of logistics transportation is not limited, so that economic activities can continue. We will coordinate and ensure the readiness of public transportation operations during Nataru and the PPKM Level 3 period by carrying out the readiness and feasibility of fleet operations in each mode of transportation," said Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi, Wednesday (1/12/2021).

"There are various anticipations of critical points in limiting and controlling the mobility of the land sub-sector where in addition to the need for management of public transportation, there is also the potential for movement by private cars and motorbikes," he continued. Budi added that his party together with the Korlantas Polri and other stakeholders would continue to carry out traffic engineering, including odd-even in a number of areas with increased mobility. This is because odd-even managed to reduce the mobility rate by up to 30 percent. However, the government does not rule out the possibility of implementing more conservative and strict travel rules if the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus spreads in Indonesia and requires stricter prevention.
