The Ministry of Industry has prepared a Global Halal Hub and the inclusion of Halal Industrial Estates (KI Halal) in the Global Islamic Economy Index ranking in 2024. This is the target of the Roadmap for the Development of Halal Industrial Estates. "KI Halal is an emphasis in the context of strengthening the halal industry ecosystem. This is because Halal KI is the infrastructure of the halal industry," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Tuesday (30/11). Halal industrial infrastructure contained in KI Halal must be able to support Research and Development (R&D), the need for raw material sources, and production. Then, fulfill the aspects of distribution as well as sales and marketing. “Facilitating Halal KI is the duty of the Ministry of Industry. Furthermore, it is necessary to synchronize planning and implementation with related Ministries/Institutions," said the Minister of Industry.
To create a halal ecosystem for the domestic industry so that it can dominate the domestic and global market, the industry and Halal KI need to be integrated with the halal logistics system, halal certification, Sharia financing, as well as halal education and promotion. "With the development of the halal ecosystem, Indonesia is targeted to become part of the Global Halal Value Chain which will pioneer a reliable Halal Traceability and Halal Assurance System," he explained. The main goal of developing Halal KI is to bring tenants into the area. The development of KIH needs attention, such as the facilitation of incentives, in order to strengthen the halal value chain ecosystem of global halal industry activities. Incentive support is needed in the form of fiscal and financing facilities. The Ministry of Industry will propose incentives for the halal industry located at KI Halal, related to export activities, import substitution, developing halal product process technology, innovating the halal industry, as well as providing export guidance and assistance for halal IKM actors.
Next, financing facilities are provided for assistance in the process of halal products for IKM actors, halal certification, innovation of halal materials as substitutes for critical materials, as well as increasing bankability for IKM which includes the establishment of institutions, implementation, assistance to increase the credit rating of halal SMIs. Currently, three Halal KI have been built, namely Halal Modern Valley in Serang, Banten, Halal Industrial Park in Sidoarjo, and Bintan Inti Halal Hub. The three Halal KI have captured the investment potential of the global halal industry. Meanwhile, eight other KI already have plans and are in the planning stage of Halal KI, including KI Ladong, KEK Barsela, KI Tenayan, and Batamindo Industrial Park. Then, Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung, Subang Industrial Estate, Surya Borneo Industrial Estate, and Makassar Industrial Estate (KIMA). "Therefore, the Ministry of Industry continues to make efforts to encourage the development of Halal KI and Halal Hubs in the regions in order to form a strong and equitable halal industry ecosystem throughout Indonesia. This can be done because it has cooperation and support from other parties," concluded the Minister of Industry.
