The number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in September 2021 increased by 1.41 percent compared to August 2021. This was conveyed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno. "Alhamdulillah (the number of foreign tourists visiting) is still up by 1.41 percent. Although the increase is not too significant, we can see that in October the increase is also higher, and this is supported by the increasing number of domestic tourists, especially to Bali." he said during the Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (29/11/2021). The number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in September 2021 reached 126,500 visits.
Of this figure, most of them came from Timor Leste with 72,900 visits (57.7 percent) and Malaysia with 39,800 visits (31.5 percent). "In general, they are border crossers," added Sandiaga. However, when compared to September 2020, the number of visits in September 2021 decreased by 15.08 percent. Meanwhile, in the January - September 2021 period, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia reached 1.19 million visits. This number has decreased by 67 percent when compared to the same period in 2020. Regarding the reception of international arrivals in Bali, until now there have been no foreign tourists visiting the Island of the Gods via direct flights.
