Support Expansion of Eksyar Implementation - Bank Indonesia Balikpapan Together with the Sharia Economic Community Holds the Balikpapan Go Halal Festival

In order to improve the sharia economic climate in Balikpapan City, Bank Indonesia Balikpapan in collaboration with the Sharia Economic Community (MES) held the Balikpapan Go Halal Festival on November 27, 2021 at the Balikpapan Islamic Center (BIC). The event was opened by the Mayor of Balikpapan, Rahmad Mas'ud who is also the chairman of MES Balikpapan and attended by the Head of Bank Indonesia Balikpapan Representative, Sri Darmadi Sudibyo, Head of the Balikpapan City Ministry of Religion Office, Johan Marpaung, Chairman of the Indonesian Waqf Board of Balikpapan City, Subari, Central Executive MES, Dr. Moch. Buchori Muslim as well as participants from MES members and the general public. In this event there are several important agendas, including i) Akbar tabligh with the theme "Synergy Strengthening the Sharia Economy for Balikpapan Economic Recovery", ii) launching the 500 QRIS program for mosques/mushala, iii) launching waqf corner, iv) Submission of halal tourism destination certification , and v) Presentation of MES Award for Institutions and People. Starting the activity, participants took part in the Akbar Tabligh delivered by Dr Moch Buchori Muslim who conveyed the importance of understanding regarding halal lifestyle for Muslims.


Furthermore, the Head of Representative of Bank Indonesia Balikpapan conveyed the development of the sharia economy, especially in terms of the halal product industry and sharia banking. In his remarks, Sri Darmadi Sudibyo also explained that Bank Indonesia has prepared a blueprint for the development of the sharia economy as a form of consistency in developing eksyar. In the regional setting, Bank Indonesia has also provided assistance and empowerment of Islamic boarding schools business units, encouraged business matching for sharia businesses, assisted in halal certification, and provided facilities and infrastructure assistance through the Bank Indonesia Social Program (PSBI). Meanwhile, the Mayor of Balikpapan said that the city government supports and also seeks to improve the sharia economic climate in Balikpapan. With the collaboration, especially from the government, banks and other policy makers, it is expected to accelerate the growth of exyars in Balikpapan.


On this occasion, the Head of Bank Indonesia Balikpapan Representative with the Mayor of Balikpapan and the Head of the Balikpapan Ministry of Religion launched the QRIS 500 mosque/mushala program. Through this program, it is hoped that the management of social finance will be easier. On the community side, alms are faster, easier and can be done anywhere. Furthermore, the launching of the waqf corner as a continuation of the Wadah Faith program, namely the use of QRIS to collect waqf funds used for the recovery of MSMEs during the pandemic. QRIS as a container of faith will be placed in all KUA in Balikpapan to expand the reach of waqf. As an effort to improve the halal lifestyle, on this occasion, halal tourism destination certification was also given to Manggar Beach, Lamaru Beach, Bamboe Wanadesa and Sungai Wain Protection Forest. In addition, the Balikpapan City MES also gave awards to Bank Indonesia Balikpapan and the Head of Representatives of Bank Indonesia Balikpapan as institutions and figures who made extraordinary contributions to the progress of the sharia economy in Balikpapan.
