Indonesia's Export Performance Predicted to Reach 200 Billion US Dollars by the End of 2021

The Ministry of Trade predicts that Indonesia's export performance will continue to increase until the end of 2021. Its value is also predicted to reach 200 billion US dollars. Head of the Trade Assessment and Development Agency (BPPP) of the Ministry of Trade Kasan said, based on his data, during the January-October 2021 period, Indonesia's exports touched 186.32 billion US dollars. This figure has also increased by 41.8 percent compared to the same period the previous year. "This year's achievement is quite high, maybe we can estimate that by the end of the year exports could be above 200 billion US dollars, so that is an achievement that is enough to give an indication of a higher level than what we achieved in 2011, which was 203 billion dollars. USA," Kasan said in an Indef webinar that was broadcast virtual, Wednesday (11/24/2021).

Kasan further explained, Indonesia's non-oil and gas export performance in October 2021 reached 21 billion US dollars, an increase of 6.75 percent month to month and cumulatively reached 176.47 billion US dollars, an increase of 41.26 percent month to month. Kasan assessed that this increase was not only caused by commodity prices. However, due to changes in the export structure where most of the export components come from manufactured products. He is optimistic that this positive trend will continue and have an impact on economic growth in 2022 and he hopes that the performance of exports and imports can support future economic growth. "However, for next year, the outlook that has been described by international institutions is the target that has been set by the government, of course this is influenced by internal and external factors," he said.
