The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Sandiaga Uno believes that a variety of culinary, craft, and local fashion products in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi are able to penetrate the world market through collaboration with the diaspora. "A variety of Indonesian culinary delights with distinctive flavors are a gift for the revival of tourism and the national creative economy," he said when visiting Maros Regency, South Sulawesi on Tuesday (23/11). During the visit, Sandiaga tasted a variety of Maros specialties, such as jalangkote or pastel-like cakes, a variety of Maros bread and crackers. According to him, the various culinary delights he has tasted can be marketed through the Proudly Made in Indonesia program. So that these culinary products are increasingly recognized which open up business opportunities and employment opportunities for the community.
"Only, the aspect that needs to be improved is the packaging," he said. Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy through the Impromptu Culinary Design Surgery program (Bedakan) collaborates with the Packaging House to beautify all packaging belonging to SMEs. In addition, all MSME products will be facilitated in the registration of Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI). "The hope is to encourage and move the community's economy, we will be onboarding the Proudly Made in Indonesia national movement program with a stimulus of Rp 50 million per business actor and also vouchers through National Online Shopping," said Sandiaga.
According to him, the innovations carried out are expected not only to increase sales locally, but also to become more global through collaboration with dispora abroad. He hopes that the market expansion target is not only at the local level, but can penetrate nationally and internationally. "Because Maros culinary products are widely known and it is possible to participate in the Indonesia Spice Up The World program through South Sulawesi diaspora abroad so that Maros creative economy products can be recognized and exported," he explained.
