The Ministry of PUPR is fixing regional infrastructure in order to support the implementation of the G-20 in Bali next year. Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said, at the G-20 Summit, Indonesia as the host in 2022 will take the big theme of recovering together, recovering stronger. "Bali, which will be the center of the location for the G20 Summit, will be made more environmentally friendly through activities to improve regional infrastructure supported by massive reforestation," said Minister Basuki in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday (12/21/2021).
The Ministry of PUPR will support the development of a better Mangrove Research Center location as a form of Indonesia's commitment to take a big role in climate change issues. Through the G-20 Summit, Minister Basuki stated that Indonesia wanted to show the world that it could lead the mission to save the earth through the development and rescue of mangroves. "For this reason, the Ministry of PUPR together with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry have prepared the location with the concept of the bigger the better, if there are 10 hectares we are ready to work on it, if there are 100 hectares we are also ready to develop it, so bigger is better, we show the world that Indonesia has and can develop mangroves well," said Basuki. Not only preparing the revitalization of the development of the Mangrove Research Center area, the Ministry of PUPR has also prepared the environment around the road from the airport to the venue. “To make it look like Bali really takes good care of the environment. All roads should be greener than now. If we look towards Nusa Dua, it needs to be added to make it more lush," he said.
Minister Basuki also asked for reforestation on the Bali Mandara Toll Road section. This reforestation effort can be with trees or flower plants to beautify so that it looks more gentle, this will later be prepared by a landscape architect for the design. All design work for the improvement of the area's infrastructure will be included in the design. "By the end of November 2021, we should be able to convey the design concept to the President. We will start working at least in early January 2022, because the sooner the better," said the Minister of PUPR. The scope of activities for structuring the Tahura Mangrove area includes improving the quality of the raised deck for pedestrian paths which will later be used as a path for the heads of G-20 member countries, structuring parking areas and increasing accessibility to the location. Completion of activities is targeted for June 2022 and continued with the seeding of Mangrove Pilots which will be completed in September 2022, so that in October 2022 the location will be ready to become a Mangrove Show Case to support the implementation of the G-20.
