The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) will launch the Borobudur Public Service Agency (BLU) which combines the concepts of conservation and tourism. "This BLU will combine the concept of conservation as a cultural heritage as well as the education side as well as the tourism and creative economy aspects," said Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo in a press statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/17/2021). Wamenparekraf attended the launch of the Public Service Agency (BLU) Expo 2021 at Istora Senayan Jakarta, Tuesday (16/11/2021). The Expo was held on November 16-18 2021 with the theme "BLU with a Strategy to Restore the Economy". Angela - who is also the Chairperson of the Perindo Party's DPP for the Digital & Creative Economy - explained that the existence of the BLU was aimed at reaffirming the government's commitment to accelerate and encourage Indonesia's economic recovery during the adaptation period of new habits.
Based on Law Number 1 of 2004 concerning the Treasury, the state has provided a new corridor for government agencies that have the main task and function of providing services to the public to implement a flexible financial pattern. This is done by highlighting productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness with the general title as the work unit of the Public Service Agency. To date, there have been 252 BLUs covering the types of services in the health sector as many as 107 BLUs, 106 BLUs for education, 10 BLU fund managers, area managers of five BLUs, and 23 BLU providers of other goods/services. A total of five BLU area managers were declared to have developed economic zones with ease of doing business and managing tourism areas as well as special services while optimizing state assets and supporting infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said BLU was a pioneer in public service reform by building modern government agencies with strong customer and outcome oriented nuances. "BLU is an agent of development whose purpose is to fulfill basic needs and support general welfare and educate the nation's life through services in the fields of health, education, fund management, asset management, and the region," said the Minister of Finance.
