These are the Three Agricultural Export Commodities that Rise High

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that agricultural exports in October 2021 reached US$410 million. This achievement indicates that agricultural exports grew by 2.7 percent compared to the previous month (mtm). There are three commodities that contributed greatly to this growth. "For the agricultural sector, the largest portion is filled by coffee with 22.63 percent, annual fruits 14.01 percent, and aromatic medicinal plants and spices by 13.19 percent," said Head of BPS Margo Yuwono, in a press conference, Monday (15/11).

Meanwhile, in terms of monthly growth, Margo said that the swallow's nest grew significantly. "Swallow's Nest increased 52 percent compared to the previous month. Likewise, annual fruits grew by 49.83 percent and coffee by 12.15 percent," he said. Not only the commodities mentioned above, Margo also said that agricultural products also boosted the export performance of the manufacturing sector. Palm oil contributed 18.52 percent of the total export of the processing industry which reached 16.07 billion US dollars. In addition to palm oil, organic basic chemical products sourced from agriculture also grew by 3.74 percent. The large contribution of the two agricultural products in the processing industry is also indicated by the very high growth in export value this month. The growth of palm oil exports reached 76.54 percent and organic basic chemicals sourced from agriculture 77.74 percent, when compared to the previous year. Overall, the value of Indonesia's exports exceeded 22.03 billion US dollars. "Our export value performance is better than in 2019 and 2020. Hopefully this can have an impact on the national economic recovery," he said.

The Head of the Bureau of Public Relations and Public Information of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) Kuntoro Boga Andri said that the increase in agricultural exports this month was achieved with the hard work of Indonesian farmers who collaborated with all parties. On the other hand, the government also continues to encourage increased production and facilitate export interests through the Three Times Exports Movement (Gratieks) program and the momentum for independent exports. "We appreciate the hard work of all parties, including the farmers who collaborate with the government, so that food needs are fulfilled and even tend to be surplus," he said.
