The Indonesian government is still reviewing the implementation of vaccinated travel lanes (VTL). This was done to re-open international travel in the midst of the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic. The government will monitor the condition of Covid-19 cases in a number of countries before making the agreement. "Research on vaccinated travel lanes continues, but the government continues to monitor the level of cases in various countries," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto during a press conference after a limited meeting, Monday (15/11).
Airlangga said that currently Covid-19 cases in Indonesia are in a good position. Even Indonesia is better than a number of countries around it. The data presented stated that the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia was 1 case per 100,000 population. While Thailand 89 cases per 100,000 population, Singapore 454 cases per 100,000 population, Malaysia 127 cases per 100,000 population, and Australia 51 cases per 100,000 population. Indonesia's active cases, based on data as of November 14, 2021, were 9,018 cases. Meanwhile, the addition of daily cases on that date was 339 cases.
"The reproduction rate is already below 1," explained the Chairman of the Committee for Handling the Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN). For information, Indonesia previously planned to enter into an agreement to open travel access with a number of countries. Among others, Australia and Malaysia have held talks during bilateral meetings.
