Soaring 53 Percent, Indonesian Exports in October 2021 Reaches 22 Billion US Dollars

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's export performance in October 2021 was still experiencing growth. The increase in exports occurred in both the oil and gas (oil and gas) and non-oil and gas sectors. Head of BPS Margo Yuwono said that in October 2021 the national export value reached 22.03 billion US dollars. This consists of oil and gas exports of 1.03 billion US dollars and the non-oil and gas sector of 21 billion US dollars. "If we compare the conditions in October 2020 or year on year (yoy), then our exports in October grew quite high, 53.35 percent," he said at a press conference, Monday (15/11/2021).

If viewed in more detail, exports of the oil and gas sector in October 2021 rose 66.84 percent yoy. Meanwhile, exports from the non-oil and gas sector grew by 52.75 percent. Meanwhile, when compared to September 2021 (month to month/mtm), the value of Indonesia's exports also grew 6.89 percent. In more detail, the oil and gas and non-oil and gas sectors increased by 9.91 percent mtm and 6.75 percent mtm, respectively. When viewed from the business sector, almost all sectors experienced annual growth. It was recorded that the export sector of the oil and gas sector amounted to 1.03 billion US dollars, growing 66.84 percent yoy. Then, the export value of the processing industry reached 16.07 billion US dollars, growing 36.5 percent on an annual basis. Then, exports from the mining and other sectors amounted to 4.53 billion US dollars, rocketing 190.57 percent. Only the agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors experienced contraction in growth. The export value in this sector was US$ 0.41 billion, down 3.32 percent yoy. This positive export performance is inseparable from the resumption of national economic activity. BPS noted, activity at home has begun to decline. At the same time, activity in various other places is growing, even some places have returned to normal levels. "The improved mobility of the population has an impact on economic activity," said Margo.
