For travel enthusiasts, the stickers and immigration stamps from various countries embedded in their passports are fragments of their travel memory. However, not many people realize that the affixed sticker actually has a very crucial function. Moreover, if the residence permit sticker has been digitally integrated, as applied by the Directorate General of Immigration. "Electronic immigration stamps (stickers) were created with the aim of displaying immigration data that is integrated with the Immigration Management Information System (SIMKIM)," said Head of the Integrity Zone of the Immigration Stay Permit Directorate, Nurudin when confirmed.
He explained that the existence of a residence permit sticker in the form of a Quick Response (QR) Code made it easier to monitor immigration. Immigration officers can scan via smart phones (smartphones). The position point during the scan will automatically be sent and recorded at the immigration data center. Thus, the presence and mobility of foreigners in the territory of Indonesia can be monitored by the system. "Stickers with QR Codes are not only given upon the arrival of the foreigner of the transportation means at the Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) at the airport or port, but also for any issuance or extension of the Foreigner's residence permit. This increases the effectiveness and efficiency of immigration checks for foreigners, and of course a step to realize e-Government so that public services are more optimal,” he added.
In addition to products and outputs such as electronic passports and electronic immigration stamps, immigration digitization is also applied systematically, for example in electronic residence permit approval letters, visa websites and online residence permits, online passport service applications (taking queue numbers) and checking the status of visa approval stages.
