Indonesia has the opportunity to export Muslim fashion products that have not been used optimally. Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi targets the export value of Indonesian Muslim fashion products to increase 10 times in the next five years. Luthfi also targets the value of the Muslim fashion industry in the country to double by 2026. Currently, the export value of Indonesian Muslim fashion is only US$ 500 million. (Rp 7.1 trillion), while the market value of Indonesian Muslim fashion is US$ 16 billion (Rp 228 trillion). This value makes Indonesia the fifth largest Muslim fashion market in the world. Lutfi said the export value of Indonesian Muslim fashion products could increase 10 times to US$ 5 billion (Rp 71 trillion) in the next five years. Meanwhile, the value of the Muslim fashion industry is targeted to increase to US$ 32 billion (Rp 457 trillion). "That should be something we can get," said Lutfi at the 'Kick Off Embracing Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week' press conference, Thursday (11/11).
Lutfi explained that the position of the Indonesian Muslim fashion market is still below Iran with a total industrial value of US$ 53 billion (Rp 758 trillion), Turkey US$ 28 billion (Rp 400 trillion), Saudi Arabia US$ 21 billion (Rp. 300 trillion) and Pakistan US$ 20 billion (Rp 286 trillion). Lutfi previously said that Indonesia is ready to become the center of the halal industry and the world's Muslim fashion mecca in the future. Moreover, the market share of halal products in the world is getting bigger. The world's Muslims have the potential to spend more than US$ 2 trillion or around Rp 28.2 thousand trillion in the halal food sector, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, fashion and halal recreation. Therefore, as part of efforts to introduce Indonesian Muslim fashion products to the world, the Ministry of Trade will hold the 'Embracing Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2021 on November 18 at Aquatic Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta.
Deputy Chairperson of the National Muslim Fashion Promotion Committee, Anne Patricia Sutanto, said that her party would start this event together with all ecosystem actors to support Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week, which will peak in October 2022. His party cooperates with all designer associations, 15 fashion institutes, and cosmetic associations. "We feel that with local wisdom and experts from academia, designers, and stakeholders from upstream to downstream, the global Muslim fashion trend must start from Indonesia as the country with the largest Muslim population," said Anne.
