Ministry of Finance – As part of the preparations for the G20 Presidency, Indonesia will hold an International Conference on 'Resilient and Sustainable Economic Recovery' on 11 November 2021. "This conference is part of the Indonesian Presidency's efforts to explore policies in order to promote productivity, increase resilience and stability, ensure inclusive and sustainable growth, and activate the environment and partnerships as strategic pillars for 2022," said Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) of the Ministry of Finance, Febrio. Kacaribu in its release, Wednesday (10/11).
The international conference will focus on three main challenges. First, digital transformation to increase productivity. “Digital infrastructure is considered to have a strategic contribution as a driver in accelerating economic recovery and overcoming global inequality due to the digital divide. Therefore, efforts are needed to encourage investment, increase financing resources, and agree on the principles of digital infrastructure regulation," said the Head of BKF. Second, improving the quality of human resources after the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has caused profound global economic disruption, both on the production and consumption sides. These disturbances have resulted in high unemployment rates and low investment and productivity. "If not handled properly and in a timely manner, these impacts will leave long-term scars and hinder the path to strong and resilient economic growth in the future," said the Head of BKF. Third, sustainable finance in order to encourage inclusive growth. The Indonesian government and other countries in the world see that future growth must not only be resilient, but must also be sustainable. "Therefore, fiscal policy and the financial sector must be able to play an important role in the transition to a low-carbon economy," said the Head of BKF.
At this international conference, the Government of Indonesia, in this case the Ministry of Finance, will invite stakeholders to jointly develop and sharpen real ideas in determining the agenda of the Indonesian Presidency. “The government is committed to promoting a stronger and more sustainable global economic recovery. We have conducted a series of public discussion activities, such as focus group discussions (FGD), webinars, consultations and call for papers, to obtain the best input from various stakeholders. We will continue to ensure that this public dialogue is effective as government input to promote Indonesian and global interests in the 2022 Presidency," said the Head of BKF.
