Indonesia Ranks Highest in Handling Covid-19 in ASEAN

Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19 Wiku Adisasmito said the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia received international recognition. Wiku delivered the Nikkei report which put Indonesia in 41st rank, an increase from the previous month at 54th position. "This increase also places Indonesia in the highest rank among ASEAN countries," said Wiku in an online press conference, Tuesday (9/11). Wiku explained that the ranking improvement was supported by data on Covid-19 cases in Indonesia which was getting better. As of November 8, there were only 0.23 percent of people who were positive for Covid-19 nationally, with a daily death rate of 3.38 percent and a cure rate of 96.93 percent. In addition, as of 3 November, all provinces were at the level of community transmission level one based on the WHO assessment. Therefore, Wiku invites all parties to continue to maintain this achievement.

"This needs to be maintained through the collaboration of the community and the government. So that the Covid-19 pandemic can continue to be controlled and the national economy can recover and grow," he said. Previously, Chairman of the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) Airlangga Hartarto said, in the Covid-19 Situation Report Number 79 on November 3, 2021, it was stated by WHO that all provinces in Indonesia were at the Community Transmission (CT) level. ) Level 1 or Low Contagion. This means that all provinces are already at CT1, which is a low level of transmission/infection in the period 25 to 31 October 2021. The results of the report are in line with the Covid-19 virus Reproduction Rate (Rt) which is still under control, which is at 0. .95 as of November 5. "This will continue to be maintained by continuing to encourage the implementation of Prokes, 3M and 3T programs strictly, as well as consistent acceleration of vaccinations," said Airlangga, Monday (8/11).

Meanwhile, in terms of population mobility, it has started to increase in the last few weeks, but Covid-19 cases are still under control or are not followed by an increase in cases. When viewed per island, the highest mobility occurred in Maluku, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua, which had increased beyond the pre-COVID-19 conditions. Airlangga said good news also came from the Indonesia Covid Recovery Index released by Nikkei. According to Nikkei Index data, Indonesia is ranked 41 out of 121 countries in the world, the highest among other ASEAN countries, with a score of 56 (31 October 2021). This ranking improved from the previous which was ranked 54.
