Trade Expo Indonesia, Minister of Trade: Temporary Transactions of IDR 57.13 Trillion

The interactive session of Trade Expo Indonesia-Digital Edition (TEI-DEI) 2021 has officially ended. During the two weeks of its implementation from October 21 to November 4, 2021, the trade event managed to record a total temporary transaction value of US$3.99 billion, equivalent to Rp. 57.13 trillion. “By presenting 834 percent, TEI-DEI managed to record transactions of US$3.99 billion. This value far exceeds the target set at US$1.5 billion," said Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi in a press release, Sunday (11/7/2021). The total value of these transactions was obtained through business exploration activities of US$2.52 billion, signing of a memorandum of understanding of US$978.81 million, transactions of Indonesian Trade Representative activities of US$494.41 million and daily transactions of US$1.71 million. "This success is due to the hard work of various parties, including the Indonesian Trade Representatives who managed to attract 3,573 buyers from 133 trading partner countries as well as 4,288 local buyers," said Lutfi.


Products that have succeeded in attracting buyers to TEI this time are medical supply products of US$280.61 million (7.02 percent); palm oil of US$278.20 million (6.96 percent); paper and paper products of US$252.02 million (6.31 percent); chemical products of US$114 million (2.85 percent); coffee, tea and chocolate by US$113.72 million (2.85 percent); processed foods amounting to US$87.98 million (2.20 percent); automotive by US$73 million (1.83 percent); coconut oil of US$65.58 million (1.64 percent); and rubber products of US$54.80 million (1.37 percent). On the other hand, the 10 export destination countries with the largest transaction value were Egypt, amounting to US$560.22 million (14.02 percent); Brazil amounted to US$285.80 million (7.15 percent); Japan amounted to US$ 252.58 million (6.32 percent); Australia US$108.95 million (2.73 percent); China of US$ 100.25 million (2.51 percent); Malaysia of US$87.89 million (2.20 percent); Saudi Arabia of US$ 53.08 million (1.33 percent); Netherlands US$13.83 million (0.35 percent); India US$8.02 million (0.20 percent); and South Korea of US$2.81 million (0.07 percent).


TEI-DE 2021 also organizes various business forum activities carried out with partners from the Directorate General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade, including the Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) Canada, the Center for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) the Netherlands, Findolainden Finland , Arise+, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Import Promotion Desk (IPD) and Swiss Import Promotion. Some of the themes raised in the forum included geographical indications, fair trade, export opportunities for information technology (IT) services, and the preparation of a company profile with sustainability standards. In total, nine business forums were held which were attended by around 1,000 participants. Lutfi added that the digital catalog concept has proven to be able to provide flexibility for visitors and participants to explore and display information about Indonesia's superior products. As of November 4, 2021 at 14.30 WIB, the website www.tradexpoindonesia.com has been visited by more than 26,000 visitors. "Furthermore, the 2021 TEI-DE showcase session will begin which will last until December 20, 2021. By holding this session, it is hoped that it will open up even greater opportunities to increase the value of the resulting transactions," he said.
