Central Java's foreign trade balance in September 2021 had a surplus of USD 149.68 million. This is indicated by export performance which increased to USD 1,025.66 million and import performance decreased by USD 261.39 million, compared to August 2021. Based on export and import data released by the Central Java Statistics Agency (BPS), Central Java's export data experienced the highest surplus for the last 3 years. Sentot Bangun Widoyono, Acting Officer of Central Java BPS-Statistics Indonesia, said that this increase was in line with the control of Covid-19 cases accompanied by economic improvements. "This shows the large demand from rest of the world or abroad," said Sentot confirmed Tuesday (2/11/2021).
He explained that data with September's export achievements of USD1.025.66 million means that there is an increase of 6 percent compared to the export performance of August 2021 which was recorded at USD967.60 million. In fact, when compared to September 2020, the increase reached 40.18 percent. It was recorded that the total export of oil and gas and non-oil and gas in September 2020 was USD 731.66 million. Sentot added that there were five goods that contributed to the increase in exports. These include wood and wood products, footwear, chemical products, clothing and accessories (knitted), and vegetables. "In terms of demand, the largest increase in exports of Central Java products to China amounted to USD22.47 million, Japan USD22.29 million, the United States USD20.99 million, India USD6.75 million, and Taiwan USD5.07 million," he said.
If you look at the performance of non-oil and gas exports from January to September 2021, Central Java's total exports have recorded USD 7 262.31 million. The largest market of foreign trade is the United States with USD 2,900.58 million or 39.94 percent. That position was followed by Japan, China, the European Union and ASEAN. Meanwhile, the import performance of Central Java in September 2021 reached USD 875.98 million. This value decreased by USD261.39 million or 22.98 percent compared to August 2021. Meanwhile, when compared to the same period in 2020, Central Java's imports rose USD 156.34 million or 21.72 percent.
