The European Union delegation to Indonesia claimed to be interested in investing in the construction of offices in the new prospective National Capital City (IKN) in North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU), East Kalimantan (Kaltim). "EU investors are interested in investing in the construction of the new IKN office in the future, so we plan to study the office development plan," said the EU Ambassador to Indonesia & Brunei Darussalam Vincent Piket in Penajam, ANTARA, Wednesday (11/3/2021). Although there is interest in investing, his party is still waiting for confirmation from the central government regarding the ratification of the legal umbrella regarding the transfer of IKN, as well as the pattern of cooperation for office development. "If the IKN transfer law has been passed, of course we need time to study it then it will follow the protocol set by the government regarding the transfer of new IKN," he said.
Vincent, who came directly to PPU Regency and was received by the PPU Regent, Abdul Gafur Mas'ud (AGM), continued, the other purpose of his visit to PPU was to explore opportunities for trade cooperation. Namely, for export-import. "This visit is to improve understanding of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic cooperation agreement, including to discuss trade and investment opportunities with stakeholders," he said. His party is also here to socialize the free trade agreement negotiations with the European Union (EU), because there are many opportunities for cooperation between the EU and the Republic of Indonesia, especially the PPU Regency will become a new IKN development point.
On that occasion, AGM welcomed the arrival of the EU Ambassador to Indonesia to PPU, especially since the EU was interested in investing in IKN development, so this meeting became an interesting discussion to follow up. "There are many things that we can work on together, such as related to development technology in a large scope. God willing, this will have a tremendous impact for my father, mother, and my brothers and sisters at PPU," he explained. AGM also informed that batik from PPU, namely Batik Sekar Buen is currently circulating in Europe, so that with prayers from the community, regional products will continue to run and reap success.
