BKPM Claims 162 Companies Intend to Relocate and Expand to Indonesia

The Ministry of Investment / Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) said that Indonesia is still a priority destination for investment by other countries. Currently, there are 162 companies showing interest or interest in relocating their companies to Indonesia. BKPM Investment Promotion Development Director Ricky Kusmayadi said his ministry, assisted by the Investment Task Force formed by the President, would focus on end-to-end services for investors who wish to relocate or expand to Indonesia. "Until now, there have been around 162 companies that have expressed their interest in relocating and diversifying their investments to Indonesia," explained Ricky at a webinar, Monday (1/11/2021). Ricky said that the planned investment value to be carried out by the 162 companies reached US$84,179.40 billion, with a workforce of 331,060 workers. In detail, there are 23 companies out of a total of 162 companies categorized as having the certainty to relocate and diversify in Indonesia. The planned investment value is US$8,127.9 billion, with the involvement of a workforce of 70,950 workers.

Furthermore, there are 25 of the total 162 companies categorized as having the intention to reallocate and diversify in Indonesia. The planned investment value is US$ 35,551 billion, with a workforce of 103,680 workers. Finally, 114 companies are categorized as potential for relocation and diversification, which come from various sources such as the media, embassies and official representatives of BKPM abroad or the Indonesia Investment Promotion Center (IIPC). Their planned potential investment value is US$40,500 billion with a potential 156,430 workforce involved. Meanwhile, several companies that will or already have the intention to expand in Indonesia come from the United States (US), Taiwan, South Korea, China, Japan, Hong-Kong, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Ricky said that with the existence of the Job Creation Law, the government is increasingly pushing for ease of investment.

Regarding investment licensing, the approach has now shifted from a licensing-based approach to a risk-based approach. This is manifested in a risk-based online licensing system or Online Single Submission Risk-Based Approach (OSS-RBA). This year, Indonesia is pursuing an investment target of IDR 900 trillion, with the realization value as of September 2021 having reached IDR 659.4 trillion or 73.3 percent of the target. In 2022, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) increases the investment realization target to Rp. 1,200 trillion, as one of the requirements to encourage economic growth above 5 percent.
